No.1 To Waioweka Forest. Turn right, just before a bridge at 3.7km on Amokura Rd in Opotiki. Maintained track, two fords, good views, about 6.5km to locked* forestry gate. * We have been advised that this gate is now always open, and the track is now navigable right thru. |

No.2 Tutaetoko Stream. A right turn, about 2km up Otara Rd. Goes from gravel to dirt to river bed with medium boulders and gets very overgrown after about 10km, possible to 16km. |

No.3 Te Waiti Stream - the next right turn past Tutaetoko Stream bridge. Several fords, a poorly maintained track to the boulders (DOC) picnic area. Road becomes private property at gate at 3.4km (No turning place after the Boulders). |

No.4 Waiata Rd - signposted, about halfway thru the Waioweka Gorge. Turn right* off the end of the bridge. Gravel then grass, bear right at 3.3km. 8km to end of track. *Our latest advice is that this is now signposted Tresspassers will be Prosecuted - however, instead go straight ahead off the bridge, and enjoy about 5 km of interesting road. |

No.5 Motu Falls - 4.5km from Motu to start of Scenic Reserve, 5.2km to Falls, 7km to first of 6 gates, native bush and pasture, 12km to old hut, and 14.5km to end of navigable track. Track gets progressively worse from the gate on. |

No.6A From Motu cross bridge on Old Coach Rd, right onto Maromoko Rd. Locked gate just past the wool shed at end of Rd. Here you can be met by Paparangi Ventures and travel through 7km of private farm track to the Homestead. Accommodation (up to 15 people) available 6.5 km further down 4WD road beside Motu river. Depart by river crossing at Homestead and thence back to Motu Falls Rd and village. BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL. |

No.6 Old Motu Rd 53km from Motu to coast Rd. Narrow well maintained track, but could block in heavy rain. 2 fords, 3 scenic reserves, spectacular drops and scenery, bush and some pasture, usually navigable with 2WD. (Access to 5 other Routes) |

No.7 Whitikau Rd. Starts 17.7 km from Motu. (A ford and a gate, no sign). 5 fords, 3 gates, good track for 6km. Follows the stream valley thru pasture and bush. Far end condition not known. |

No.8 Takaputahi Rd. Starts at Toatoa, 29km from Motu. Good track. Follows the stream valley thru pasture and bush. 10.9km to Whitikau Campsite(DOC), and the turn off to Otipi Rd Route. 5 fords, 1 gate and ends(18km) at locked Forestry gate. Good gravel road. |

No.9 Otipi Rd. Starts at Whitikau Campsite and river ford. Only for very competent users. Deep ruts and runoffs, steep dropoffs, and slips. Blocked by large slip at about 10km at present. 19km to end. |

No.10 Block Access Road - Off Gaskill Rd - Old Motu Coach Rd. 5km, farmland and native bush, good views, ends at a forestry gate. 5 cattle stops, and the Waiaua Scenic Reserve starts at 2.9km |

No.11 Maungaroa (Station) Access Rd - off Copenhagen Rd, TeKaha. 15km to the end from Te Kaha. Several gates and river fords. Some excellent views, mostly bush country. Well maintained track. Return or drive out on Route 12 (Kereru River) |

No.12 Kereru River. Approx 10km from the western end of the bridge on S.H.2 to Maungaroa Stn. Many river crossings and detours along the banks. Go in convoy, or take every precaution. Return or drive out on Route 11 (Maungaroa Station Access Rd) |
