  • Here's a dead simple way to do it. AT the BOTTOM (so it loads last), of the page, put the GIF file you want to preload inside an <img> tag like this -
    <img src="yourgif.gif" width="1" height="1">. This way the pic file is already loaded, but invisible; then when the mouse hovers over a link further up the page, it will display instantly.
