The Basic Formula -
Get this right, and the site writes itself.
The Relative importance of the above elements is as follows - URL, Title, Keywords : (times repeated and Density of,) i.e., that is the proportion of keywords to other text : Description : (or Comment) : Page content - with the importance equal to the order of listing. Put that another way; Keyword importance is ranked by 1. Number,(i.e., the number of times it appears); 2. Frequency, the ratio of keywords to other words; and 3. Position, how close to the top of the page.
So the
Basic Formula then, is
- Rank your
keywords in the order of their importance.
Try for a domain name that includes your prime keyword (Example: This site about html has this URL http://opotiki.com/html).
Use the next highest ranked keywords as directory names for your following pages (Example: This tutorial about html has this URL http://opotiki.com/html/tutorial).
Try to write your Meta Description Tag sentences so as to include your keywords in the relative order, and of course, the Meta Keyword Tag repeats the Keywords again, (separated by commas.)
Set out your pages to reflect the same order that you first decided with your Keywords. By the time you have graded the keywords in order of relevance, you have virtually decided how it should all be put together.
Use your keywords wherever else you can, in sentences, in ALT Tags, in filenames.......
